Uploading, made simple — and private

Uploading a logo used to work differently from uploading a cover photo, which worked differently again from a document. Thirty-nine separate controls had grown across the platform, each with its own quirks.

Now there is one. It takes a file, tells you in plain words if something is wrong, and says the same thing whether it worked or not, so you are never left guessing.

Two things underneath are worth knowing. It checks what a file actually is rather than trusting its name. And photos taken on a phone carry the GPS coordinates of where they were taken — those are stripped before the file reaches our server. Photograph your club’s hall from your kitchen table, and your home address does not come with it.
